Heather O'Rourke | Eyewitness News

Heather O'Rourke began as an intern at two different traffic networks before becoming a full-time traffic anchor. Heather is proud to say that she has anchored the traffic on almost every radio station in the tri-state area - from New Jersey to Long Island, and from Manhattan to Westchester County. Not only did Heather anchor the traffic while in studio, Heather was also an airborne traffic reporter for several years. In 1994, she became a full time radio traffic anchor. She was also the fill-in news anchor for six years on the legendary New York radio station, WPLJ-FM. In 2002, she became a part of Eyewitness News as the afternoon traffic anchor before joining the morning team in January of 2013.

Heather received double degrees from her Alma Mater, Rutgers University-New Brunswick. She earned both her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Media, and her Master's Degree in Adult and Continuing Education - graduating Summa Cum Laude. She was the 2001 recipient of the Achievement in Radio Award for Best Traffic Reporter; and in 2012, Heather received The George Hammell Cook Distinguished Alumni Award from Cook College - Rutgers University. Heather has also won two Emmy Awards for her work at WABC-TV. One of her Emmys sits on a shelf at her parent's house because, without them, she would not have any Emmy awards.

Heather was born and raised in Bergen County, NJ and continues to reside in the Garden State with her husband, their two children, and their beloved assortment of family pets. She is very involved in numerous charities and enjoys being outdoors, traveling, and staying active. Most of all, she cherishes the time she spends with her family and friends.
